When I meet new people, it seems all of them want to know what it’s like working for an online plush toy retailer like Stuffed Safari. Honestly? It’s pretty awesome! Long-story-short, I work for a toy store. I walk by thousands of stuffed animals, hundreds of which are shipped out each day to find homes and spread happiness. The fun, laid back environment makes for job I thoroughly enjoy.
My primary function at Stuffed Safari is as a customer service rep. I’ve worked in customer service for the past ten years, but for the first time in my career, I find it truly rewarding. Sure, I do the average, run-of-the-mill responsibilities that come with the job title: phone calls, emails, etc. But I get the chance to share with people every single day the joy only stuffed animals can bring.
Sometimes, a distraught mother will call saying her little boy or girl has lost their favorite stuffed animal, and can’t sleep without it. These plush toys emergencies leave me feeling a sense of accomplishment when resolved. I just helped a mother and child both sleep better at night.
Countless parents call inquiring about a variety of dog plush toys to use for their child’s upcoming Puppy Party birthday. Our expansive selection and large inventory provides me the means to help even those last-minute planners make their kid’s birthday party unforgettable.
High school students and coaches seek out something to make their next game or pep rally over-the-top. Nothing says school spirit like a stuffed mascot wearing a custom-printed bandana or t-shirt proudly bearing the school’s logo. Knowing they’ll use those to raise money for their school or team is heartening, and I get to be a part of it.
I’ve seen people buy our stuffed animals with customized bandanas to use for birthday gifts, prom requests, dates, and even marriage proposals. Helping make these monumental moments special for these customers is an experience hard-to-find in most customer service positions.
In addition to my day-to-day work duties, I also write for our blog and manage our social media pages. I get to reach out and let the world know about Stuffed Safari and hear customer reviews daily. Writing and networking are two things I am very passionate about, and getting to do it for my job has been both fun and fulfilling.
I’ve heard it said, “Find something you love to do and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I love my job. I never have those days where I wake up and dread coming to the office. My skill set is put to good use, and I’m allowed to flourish—to soar with my strengths. Stuffed Safari is more than a job for me; it’s an experience, and a rewarding one at that. Needless to say, I look forward to the years to come.
